BLUE HILLS SERVICES Apply
Part-time evenings · south of Boston

Cleaning work
that respects
your time.

$22 an hour to start.
Same buildings each week, paid every Friday.

The job

Evenings, in empty offices, on a set route.

The same one or two buildings each week, after the staff have gone. Bins, restrooms, floors, glass, lights out, lock up. No weekends unless you want them.

  • $22 an hour to start, W-2 from the first hour
  • Paid weekly by direct deposit
  • Typically 2 to 4 evenings, 2 to 4 hours each
  • Start around 6pm, done before 10pm
  • All equipment and supplies provided
  • Two shirts with your name stitched on
What we need from you
  • Reliable. Tell us early if you cannot make a night. Nobody is ever in trouble for saying so early.
  • Your own transport. There is no bus at ten at night.
  • Able to be on your feet and lift a vacuum up a flight of stairs.
  • Legally able to work in the US. We complete Form I-9 on your first day.
No experience needed

We would rather teach a reliable person to clean than teach an experienced cleaner to be reliable.

Why here

Fourteen things we promise, and every one is something this trade routinely gets wrong.

Not values on a wall. Each one is either true in your first week or it is not.

No surprises

You know your schedule two weeks ahead

Not changed by text at five in the afternoon.

The same building, the same nights

You learn the place and it gets quicker. You are not shuffled about to plug gaps.

The job you were hired for is the job

The building and the hours in your offer letter are what you get. If that ever needs to change we agree it with you first. We do not interview you for one thing and hand you another.

Your hours are your hours

Extra shifts are offered, never assigned. Saying no to one costs you nothing and is not remembered.

Nothing you have to fight for

Working kit, or it gets replaced

If a vacuum dies or you are out of something, you tell us and we sort it. It never comes out of your time, and you are never sent in to do a job with tools that cannot do it.

Trained on everything you touch

Four colours, four jobs, and nobody mixes anything. Gloves and protection provided. You will not be handed a chemical and left to guess.

Tell us early and you are never in trouble

Cannot make Thursday? Say so Monday. That is the whole rule, and it goes both ways.

Report a problem and you get thanked

A stain you could not shift, a door that would not lock. Told tonight, it is nothing.

Somebody answers at nine at night

A real person, not a voicemail. You are never on your own in a building with a problem.

Somewhere to go

The rate goes up on a schedule, not a whim

$22 to start, $23 at 90 days, $24 at a year. Written in your offer letter, not promised verbally.

Managers come from the crew

Chosen on judgment, not time served. We do not hire someone in over you.

Daytime work is the promotion

Day porter shifts are longer, better paid and go to whoever proved out on nights.

Your name is on your shirt

And on the card you leave on the desk. Our clients know who cleaned their building. You are not a shift.

Paid every Friday, without fail

Direct deposit, real payslip, taxes withheld properly. A paystub gets you an apartment; cash does not.

A cleaner restocking a janitorial cart in an office corridor at night.
Everything you need is already on the cart.
Two colleagues walking out through the lobby doors at the end of a shift, bags on their shoulders.
Done by ten, home before the night is over.
An experienced cleaner showing a newer colleague something on a clipboard.
Whoever trains you tonight started where you are.
Straight answers
Is this employment or contract work?

Employment. W-2 from your first hour, taxes withheld. We do not use contractors and we do not pay cash.

Is there an unpaid trial shift?

No. Every minute you work is paid, including training. Anyone asking you to work a shift free is breaking the law.

Will I be sent somewhere different every night?

No. The same building or two, the same evenings. Being shuffled around is what makes this job miserable elsewhere.

Will there be a background check?

Yes, before you are issued keys, and only with your written permission at that stage. We are not asking on this form and we are not allowed to.

How soon would I start?

Be honest with you: we are growing and we build a list of people before the work lands, so it may be a few weeks. We will tell you where you actually stand rather than going quiet.

Can this turn into more?

Yes. Our part-time managers come from the crew, chosen on judgment rather than time served. Cover a shift nobody could fill, spot a problem before the client did, train the next person well.

Apply

Two minutes, no CV.

We read every one and reply either way, including when the answer is no. Being left guessing is the worst part of applying for work and we are not going to do it to you.

What we are actually reading for

Not spelling, and not experience. Whether you turn up, and whether you say something when it goes wrong. Answer the last question honestly and it will do you more good than a polished one.

We reply either way, usually within a few days.
